Cervical osteoarticular involvement in a Brucella-seropositive dromedary camel: An atypical clinical presentation with diagnostic implications

Abstract
Background:
Brucellosis in camels is typically associated with reproductive disorders; however, atypical musculoskeletal system presentations may occur.

Case Description:
A 5-year-old female dromedary camel presented with cervical pain, reduced appetite, ill-thriftiness, and decreased faecal output characterised by smaller-than-normal pellets. The clinical evaluation and diagnostic investigations supported a presumptive diagnosis of brucellosis with associated cervical osteoarticular involvement, representing an unusual clinical manifestation.

Conclusion:
This case highlights the importance of recognising atypical presentations of brucellosis in camels and emphasises its inclusion in the differential diagnosis of cervical musculoskeletal disorders in endemic regions. To our knowledge, cervical osteoarticular involvement associated with brucellosis in dromedary camels has been rarely documented and may represent an underrecognised clinical manifestation.
